What i will be doing for my final piece
For my final piece I will be doing long exposure on a flowing river which will be made into a smooth like pattern which will be a reference to Patrick Zephyr who will be my main artist and I will also include a light painting on the photo as this is a long exposure photo and the lights will will make a trail which can be put into 3-D shapes and drawings which will be created using a torch and this will be a reference to Darren Pearson but I will do this in the background because in the foreground I will be doing an Andy Goldsworthy inspired structure which will be created using rocks and leaves. I will then print these photos out and transfer them using gel medium onto circular log slices which will be inspired by Michelle Caplan. I will then do this multiple times with different photos and then get an A1 sheet and splatter brown paint across it which will be a reference to Jackson Pollock. I will then paint the barks of the logs in different colours to add more colour which will be a reference to Ben Heine. I will also include lots of newspaper around the outside as to make the piece more related to Michelle Caplan and to give the feel of the trees being used again. I will then tea bag the newspaper in order to make it look like old newspaper. I will put all my evidence on the back of the A1 sheet about how I did all of the editing and creating of the photos.
On the 5th and 6th of December I will be taking my photos with long exposure rivers and Andy Goldsworthy sculptures to stick on my log slices. Then on the 12th of December I will get the paint and splatter my final piece board as well as transfer the photos on the logs and then paint the bark of the logs. On the 17th of December I will explain how I did it using photos I will have taken throughout the process on the back of the A1 sheet.
How i got to my final piece
The first thing I did was experiment with long exposure and in doing so I found difficulty at getting the right time of day which needed to be not too dark but not too bright either.
The pictures above are my first attempts of combining light painting with the Goldsworthy inspired statues and long exposure on rivers which are inspired by Patrick Zephyr. These photos were not good enough as they have no focus on the river and the light at the same time. The Goldsworthy inspired sculpture was also not artistic enough.
